Whether you're going on a two week tour or have simply decided WOTI isn't for you, it's easy to stop the mailings. The instructions vary depending on whether you're on the interactive list, the Digest, or read the postings via News or the Web archives.

Leaving the interactive list

1. Send an email to wings-unsubscribe@woti.org

   IMPORTANT: Please make sure your email program sends plain text, not HTML! If you send HTML, it will probably confuse the mailing list software and unsubscribing won't work!

2. You will receive back an automated email with further instructions. You must respond as instructed in the email, or you won't get unsubscribed!

   If you have difficulties, please send an email to the WOTI Administrator at wings-owner@woti.org

Leaving the Digest

1. Send an email to wings-digest-unsubscribe@woti.org

   IMPORTANT: Please make sure your email program sends plain text, not HTML! If you send HTML, it will probably confuse the mailing list software and unsubscribing won't work!

2. You will receive back an automated email with further instructions. You must respond as instructed in the email, or you won't get unsubscribed!

   If you have difficulties, please send an email to the WOTI Administrator at wings-owner@woti.org

Leaving News or the Web archives or forum

Since neither News or the Web generate any email except the occasional administrative notice, you don't need to do anything special, and you may want your address to remain registered so that you can post in the future. If you do not wish to have your address remain registered, send an email to wings-allow-unsubscribe@woti.org You will receive back an automated email with further instructions.

If you have difficulties, please send an email to the WOTI Administrator at wings-owner@woti.org

Since News and the Web archives are publicly accessible, you may continue to read them even if your address isn't registered. To post messages, however, your address must be registered as described in the instructions on joining WOTI.

If You're Having Problems Unsubscribing

The instructions do work, but you have to follow them carefully, and you must read and follow any instructions in the emails you receive back from the server.

If unsubscribing doesn't work, the most common problem is failure to distinguish the Digest from the interactive list:

• If you receive between about one and three WOTI emails per day, where each contains a lot of postings and has a Subject like "wings Digest 12 Aug 2006 02:38:57 -0000 Issue 890" then you're on the Digest.
• If you receive a lot of individual WOTI email messages per day, then you're on the interactive list.

In rare cases, the email address you're trying to unsubscribe won't be recognised by the WOTI server. In that case, send a polite email to wings-owner@woti.org asking for help, and explain in detail what you've already tried in order to unsubscribe.

Rude emails will be ignored, as will emails with no indication of your own efforts to unsubscribe. Please allow several days before asking again if you haven't heard back from the administrator and/or you haven't stopped receiving WOTI emails.
